Are you ready to stop worrying about money?
Then let's work through The Financial Anxiety Solution together
How happy is my 5-year-old self with my current life?
I heard Lindsay Bryan-Podvin on the Weird Finance podcast a while ago and immediately added her book, The Financial Anxiety Solution, to my wishlist. The ebook was on offer recently so I snapped it up and started reading…
A person with financial anxiety can feel guilty, embarrassed or fearful of their money. Their heart races when the bill comes at dinner, their stomach drops when they have to talk about their salary at their annual performance review, and they feel demoralized when they don’t understand what’s going on in their retirement account. They think they aren’t smart enough to manage their money or don’t have enough of it to matter, or they hold a Pollyanna belief that their money will sort itself out.
From The Financial Anxiety Solution by Lindsay Bryan-Podvin
Pollyanna? That’s me. (If you’ve been reading this Substack for a while you already knew this.)
And then I thought it might be an interesting thing to write about here as I work through it. (And it’ll make me actually do the exercises, which I might otherwise skip.)
Ladybird Book Club, baby!
How happy is my 85-year-old self with my current life?
Sorry, I got overexcited. But if you fancy working through it alongside me, you can buy it on Bookshop.org or it’s currently £2.99 on Amazon in the UK.
The book looks at our money story and persona, along with money strengths and challenges, before addressing the sources of money anxiety, procrastination, awkward money conversations, our values and financial goals.
All things I’ve tried to work on in the past - and you probably have too - but I really think it could be helpful to work though them together.
I’ll be posting every Wednesday from 4 September and the book club will be limited to paid subscribers. (Because not everyone wants their money stuff to be public.)
If you’d like to upgrade before then, I’m offering a 25% discount via this link:
I’m excited to dive in and I hope you are too.
“All the money I’d ever need.” What amount comes to mind?
If you know someone you think would appreciate this post, you can give them a gift subscription (for one month or a full year) with the 25% discount here.
Great idea! x
Fabulous idea - have signed up and am ready to get going. Thanks for the kick start I needed to look at my attitude to finances in more detail.
