After the paywall I’m attempting to answer a question from last week’s AMA, but first I realised that I didn’t reveal my total Amazon spend from this post:
38% of you guessed around £50,000, 36% around £75,000. 12% thought I’d spent £100,000 or more. The 13% who went for around £25,000 would win a prize if there was a prize because my total was £24,195.
(Remember, though, that doesn’t include ebooks so it is definitely higher, but I wouldn’t imagine it would take it over £30k.)
Last night, I read this post from Laura Fenton also on the subject of Amazon shopping.
I realized that so many of the purchases I saw were stand-ins for care. A special ice pack for someone who has had their wisdom teeth removed, a jar of melatonin and supplements promising “energy” in lieu of true rest, a cartful of cushions that were designed to make a long day a desk more endurable—all were people seeking care in an increasingly care-less world.
So interesting.
