Over to Holly…

Child Maintenance

Initially he gave me cash whenever he picked the boys up and it was all friendly and fine. If anything, he was generous. Then I met someone else and he stopped paying. I had to go through the Child Maintenance Service. I have never felt so ashamed. I now get a regular monthly payment. It’s not much, but it’s better than nothing. I never thought he would be like this, he was always a very generous man. Gabbi, 31.

Children cost money, this won’t be news to you. Once you divorce the costs of raising your children still need to be met, by both parents. It is a legal responsibility in the UK to contribute to the raising of your children, regardless of whether you see them or not.
