Show me the money*
I’m currently reading a book called Financial Wellness & How to Find It by Melanie Eusebe and she suggests calculating your total lifetime earnings. I immediately put the book down and opened Excel, knowing full well it was going to be a horrible disappointment. (That’s the spirit!)
What’s changed?
Back in 2022 because of the pandemic, my bank account was cob-webby at most but then every now and then, I’d get work in so that refreshed my account and I was living like that for a while (I was a wedding photographer so of course weddings and other type of portrait sessions I was doing just weren’t happening). I knew I was getting to the end of that career – I felt like I was too old and it was just exhausting. My husband has a great job and pays all the bills, so any money I was making was pocket money for what I wanted to do.
Now, I’ve basically retired. I took on a volunteer job which is the best thing I’ve ever done and my husband gives me money every two weeks which is like pocket money still I guess and trust me, I am FULLY AWARE OF HOW DRACONIAN THAT SOUNDS, being a kept woman.
