If you would like a paid sub but can’t afford one, email me and I’ll sort you out.

When my lovely friend, fabulous author Laura Wood, got a bunch of big deals for her first adult novel, I obviously slid into her DMs and asked her to tell me about it.

Lurking in those DMs was a previous message from Laura about this newsletter, saying that she reads every post, but doesn’t subscribe “because then money talk might pop up when I am not mentally prepared.”

She added that she thought I would understand, which of course I do. But also I just found it really interesting, the thought of getting yourself into the right frame of mind to deal with money.

It’s one of the things I worked on when I first started trying to fix my relationship with money. Even changing the name of my money folder on my phone to ‘Happy Money’ helped. Also I love Bari Tessler’s Money Dates practice for this.

I bet Oprah knows how to do a money date.

But sometimes it’s still hard. I had to psych myself up to do a couple of scary money things this week and I’ll be writing about them on Monday. They both worked out better than I expected, but also just actually addressing the issues made me feel better, even ahead of the outcome.

Over to Laura:
