I would love it if you would consider supporting this newsletter by becoming a paid subcriber for just over £1 a week (57p if you go for an annual subscription!)

The Monday newsletter and interview is free, but paid subscribers get a second weekly post and full access to the archives.

If you would like a paid sub, but can’t afford it right now, email me and I’ll sort it.

A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to a friend about this newsletter and she said1 she wants to feel hopeful about my finances, about her finances, and so when I write about how things have gone wrong for me it makes her feel panicky.

Live footage of my financial situation.

A couple of the comments on Monday’s post said something similar:

Honesty, reading about your ongoing finances is one of the reasons I don't like fairground rides; all the uppy-downy-belly-lurching stuff breaks me out in a clammy sweat, so god only knows what must be happening to the IRL you.

Weirdly, IRL me is relatively chill about it (relatively) most of the time. Writing about it really, really helps.

I don't know whether reading about someone else going through this stuff is relaxing or stressful…

But this is what I’m wondering…

Does reading about it help?
