This reminds me - my son's uniform has changed to a branded polo! A BRANDED POLO! They wear them under their jumpers - who will ever tell that it's branded? I'm all for comfy uniform over sending them in dressed like little businessmen (though my kid likes his shirt and tie), but really, a branded polo UNDER a jumper is mad to me!
Oh that is just obnoxious. The school near where we used to live had a different trim colour each year including blazers! Full new uniform every year!! Terrible.
That’s genuinely disgusting! I just learnt recently my niece’s school has a different trim for different years and a different tie for different forms, but changing each year for each child?!? Dear heavens. That’s private school levels of pointless spending/wasteful consumption.
I am all about hand me downs, whether intra or inter family. For all the slagging off school parent WhatsApp groups get, the one for my daughter’s year particularly is very good for hand me downs. I’ve had a school jumper from a child who was leaving, as have many others, and I’ve given away tons of stuff mine have grown out of including almost every Halloween or fancy dress outfit they’ve ever had. Their primary school also sells off unclaimed lost property uniform for school funds at the school fair for £1 a pop, and I got 5 school jumpers for £5 for Eilidh that lasted her through nursery and reception and felt like I’d broken the system 😂
My kids’ primary was formed from a merged infants and juniors 18 months ago and I was delighted when they decided to go with unbranded white polos like the infants, rather than branded red polos like the juniors. I think the head heeded affordability concerns generally from parents as the old juniors sweatshirts were allowed alongside the new primary ones and she was fine with plain red sweatshirts when kids inevitably lost their pricey branded ones. (Three weeks my daughter kept her branded fleece. THREE WEEKS!)
But my son’s new secondary school is branded everything! Blazer, PE polo top, PE long sleeved top, PE over the top of that top top, PE shorts…
I am having a spend money Monday because I’ve just been to buy Dylan’s new secondary school uniform 😅
Argh! There was a queue outside the uniform shop near us last week!

That would give me the rage.
No making money Monday here. No spending money Monday here either. Is that what you call balance?! 😆😂
Sounds good to me! 😂
Love the Make Money Monday, my new mantra! He says quite a few good ones there about money haha
I’m really enjoying it! And still boggling at the Danish guy saying $40k is basically nothing 🥴
Omg that guy, went down the rabbit hole later on the internet… :D
Haha! I have resisted so far, but I make no promises.
