I think this has to be the best answer to the last question π
On a side note I feel like this newsletter is re wiring something in me, I can tell by how I feel when I first subscribed and it would pop up and I actually felt some trepidation in just reading about money π and now each interview feels it adds, to an ever evolving understanding and nuance about money. So thanks Keris! And sorry Octopuses π didnβt luck out for you!
Keris, this post really hit me. Do you regret spending that time? Not saying you should, Iβm just wondering how you feel about it. Iβve spent so many hours in the past doing things like this (looking at you TopCashback and your bloody hummingbirds), but I really try not to do them anymore.
Does anyone else ever feel like trying to earn money as a writer is a bit like spending time catching octopuses or hummingbirds? Putting in lots of time and effort, without any guarantees of it working? π¬π
That too! You know Iβve placed in the last two of Leonieβs competitions and I didnβt even try before then because I presumed people were selling hundreds through their affiliate links. Thereβs so much goes unclaimed because we tell ourselves we wonβt win. Hereβs to the giving it a go.
I am now really annoyed that I didnβt know anything about this octopus game. Presumably thereβs an email somewhere telling me about it. I want to catch the octopuses!π π π
Oh, so lovely! I identify with so much you said, and your statement about the rich assuming the poor don't know how to handle their money RESONATES SO EFFING LOUDLY with me.
I can still scarcely believe I actually got $19K from one story. It's slowing down a lot but will probably hit $20K in a week or so. It feels like a million bucks.

Right? Made me laugh.
And that makes me so happy! Thank you for telling me. Thatβs better than any π
'me octopuses' ππ poor you, I totally felt that for you.
Iβd grown attached!! π
I can't believe I missed this game! I have octopus envy!
They did say theyβll do it again. I donβt know if i willβ¦

Do you know, Iβm not sure! It was fun. Both the catching (trying to complete the sets) and the hope!
But, yes, absolutely agree with your metaphor π¬ Itβs the hope that kills me there too.
But fun is good too!
Oof - yeah. Hope is tricksyβ¦
So many good points about publishing in this guest post!
Yep. Kathryn posted a bit about it on insta a while ago, which prompted me to ask for an interview.
It could have been you Keris! π β¨π
Some might say it SHOULD have been me! π

Love that!

I was hoping youβd get to $20k! Thrilled for you. (Read the story finally too. Itβs great and I so agree with you.)
βMe octopusesβ πβ€οΈπ .
Loved reading this!
Thanks!
Oh goodness. I did imaginary worries about the house I haven't won this morning. I wondered whether I'd have enough money to furnish it.
Isnβt it mad?? Glad itβs not just me tho.
Definitely not just you.
